Frequently Asked Questions

What is the hunt unit and elevation?

The hunt unit is 441 and the elevation ranges from 8,300 to 9,000 ft above sea level

I am a single hunter, can I still book with MCP?

Colorado elk hunting, while fun and exciting, can be brutal from a work and weather standpoint. For safety reasons, we require at least (2) hunters in a group. Hunts are booked by groups for an entire week (archery) or entire season (rifle). You can have 2-6 hunters (archery) or 2-10 hunters (rifle) and the all-in price remains the same for the week or season.

Are there lodging options on the property?

No. But camping is welcome throughout and there are springs throughout the property. We have clients bring tents, wall tents, travel trailers, and even 5th wheel trailers. Lodging can be found in nearby Hayden or Steamboat Springs.

Are these guided hunts?

No. MCP is not a guide and provides no support to hunts. You are paying for exclusive hunting access to private property with roads, water sources, aspen groves, dark timber, open parks, and high-elevation behind locked gates.

How does my group obtain tags?

In addition to tags available in the open draw, Unit 441 is an Over-The-Counter (OTC) unit so we do not qualify for landowner tags. However, some OTC restrictions currently apply. OTC rifle tags are restricted to private land only in this unit (not a problem when you book with us). OTC archery tags are Colorado resident only (new as of 2024). Non-resident archery tags must be obtained through the draw. 1st rifle season is draw-only, so tags must be obtained through the draw.

Typically, we have not had issues with clients obtaining tags through the draw.
